PROF. DR. EKKEHART BAUMGARTNER

Vice President of the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences

In addition to his work as a journalist, between 2001 and 2007, Ekkehart Baumgartner worked as a creative director for communications agencies and design studios and, as a communications expert, advised international companies. In 2008, he was appointed professor of brand management and communication; in 2010, he took over the management of the state-recognized private university AMD Akademie Mode & Design.
From 2013, he was head of the newly founded design department at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, where, in 2017, he was also elected vice president for studies and teaching. His work focuses on digitization projects in studies and teaching as well as on the strategic realignment of universities and their educational programs – especially in the field of design.
Ekkehart Baumgartner is also the editor of the university publication series Visuelle Kulturen (Visual Cultures). Die kreative Revolte (The Creative Revolt) is his most recent essay. Ekkehart Baumgartner lives and works in Munich.
