PROF. KUNO PREY

Professor of Product Design in Teaching and Research, Bolzano
Kuno Prey was born in 1958 in San Candido, Dolomites (Italy). After studying art and design, he began collaborating with industry. Through his innate curiosity, he immersed himself in the research of materials and new technologies. He thus developed a way of working that characterizes his projects, which, as an independent product designer, he has developed for numerous companies. Several of his projects have received awards and made him known on an international level.
In 1994, Kuno Prey moved his studio to Weimar, where he was appointed professor of product design at the Faculty of Art and Design, Bauhaus University Weimar, founded by Lucius Burckhardt. Thus, he had the opportunity to actively participate in the development and growth of the school from the very beginning.
In 2002, Kuno Prey returned to his home of South Tyrol. At the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, he took on the challenging task of founding the Faculty of Design and Art. Guided by him as dean until 2010, within just a few years, the newly founded faculty became one of the most renowned design schools in Europe.
Since October 2010, Kuno Prey has been working again full-time as professor of product design in teaching and research at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
