At the conclusion of the GfDg annual conference in Berlin, René Spitz drew attention to current and future challenges in design education – and presented the iF Design Foundation’s “Designing Design Education” project, which has been working on its reorientation since 2016.
The two-day event, held to mark the 80th anniversary of the Weißensee Academy of Art and Design Berlin, centered on the theme "Shaping the Future: On the Educational Goals of Design Studies in Divided Germany." The event examined various design concepts, orientations of design education and curricula, the specific focuses of universities in East and West Germany, international networking, and influential figures in a historical comparison.
