Prof. Jenny Baese
Professor of communication design and interested in the field of collaborative learning methods
Jenny has been working as a professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Dresden since 2019, where she is responsible for teaching in the field of communication design.
In the previous ten years, she was involved in teaching at various arts universities (Halle, Potsdam, UdK Berlin); both in fundamentals teaching and in project courses in the B.A. and M.A. She knows university teaching in design over the last two decades from every perspective as a student (Potsdam, Zurich, Leipzig), as a staff member, as a professor. In the meantime, she has come to realise that every university is a cosmos of its own, one that one has to get to know over and over again and, more importantly, to question.
Her main interest is in fields of action that are intermedial and involve the development, communication and orchestration of content. It is important to her to check the necessity of applied media already at the beginning of the development of design concepts and to develop design principles that can be thought of as a regulator for different media. For her, designing does not mean the solitary pursuit of artistic ambitions, but she understands it as a joint development in dialogue with each other.
In her Berlin studio, she mainly works on the conception of books, and in her design she explores the narrative possibilities above all in the field of academic publishing. Since 2008, she has been developing publication formats in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Christian Reutlinger, which are created in the context of research at the Institute for Social Work and Spaces, University of Applied Sciences OST, St. Gallen.
From XNUMX to XNUMX, she accompanied the research and the publishing outcome of the graduate college of the University of the Arts, Berlin »Das Wissen der Künste« (The Knowledge of the Arts) as a designer.

Since then, the studio has been designing and developing projects ranging from serial industrial products to individual furniture objects and staged spaces. The range of tasks is as varied as the scale and the clients: security concepts and products are created for Abus, furniture for the office area for deSede, exhibitions for the state of Baden-Württemberg and in the Workhouse by USM, Simon Busse dived into spatial concepts of future working environments in an unconventional setting with his workshop guests. The studio's work has been published many times in print and online magazines such as Financial Times, Detail, Stylepark, Icon, Dezeen and Wallpaper, and has won awards and been exhibited internationally.
Teaching has become another important focus for Simon Busse over the years. That is why he has been a lecturer at international universities as Elisava (Barcelona), FHNW (Basel), China Academy of Art (Hangzhou) und AdbK (München) since 2011 and passes on his experience in workshops, seminars and design consultancy - since 2021 as Visiting Professor of Industrial Design at Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Applied Sciences.
